Toby is a partner in Colin Biggers & Paisley's corporate and commercial practice.
He has more than 20 years' experience advising clients on a range of commercial activities with a particular focus on mergers and acquisitions and capital markets.
Toby has extensive experience advising clients in all aspects of their commercial activities, including involvement with the technology, transport and financial services industries.
His experience includes the proprietorship of a boutique corporate and technology focused law firm and senior in-house counsel legal experience encompassing:
- a six-month secondment in the Telstra legal team
- acting as in-house legal adviser to the manager of listed index funds
- three years at the New Zealand Securities Commission
- four years co-managing the legal and market supervision teams at the New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX).
These roles have given Toby close involvement and insight into many of New Zealand’s biggest corporate transactions.
In addition to his Bachelor of Laws, Toby also has a Masters in Applied Finance and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science. He is admitted to practice in Victoria and New Zealand.
Toby is a board member of an incorporated association that aims to champion emerging technologies.
