I am a partner in Colin Biggers & Paisley's insurance practice. My practice focus is on insurance and general commercial disputes and litigation.
I have more than 17 years' experience acting in a broad range of disputes and litigation, of varying sizes, for plaintiffs and defendants from a diverse range of backgrounds, industries, and sectors. That includes insurance, legal, construction, property and development, transport, banking and finance, medical, education, native title and related matters, and commissions and inquiries work.
I have significant experience in the conduct of an array of commercial and other disputes and litigation, and alternative dispute resolution.
I have represented professionals in a broad range of industries, particularly having acted for solicitors and their insurers in complex litigated claims and policy disputes.
My clients have included insurers, government and government officials, individuals, large and small business and sole traders, law firms, universities, native title holders and claimants (and related bodies).
I have acted across all Queensland Courts, interstate, in the Federal Court, and in a range of commissions.
I am approachable, and pride myself on providing my clients with high quality work. I collaborate with my clients to ensure they understand their matter, including risks, and to drive matters in a way that meets my client’s interests, needs, and expectations.
I have been a Queensland Law Society Accredited Specialist in Commercial Litigation since 2014, a nationally recognised mark of excellence. I am one of three females with that accreditation. I have been recognised as a leading Professional Indemnity Lawyer in Doyle's Guide each year since 2017.
I am a Member of the Queensland Law Society Litigation Rules Committee. The committee participates and advocates for improvements and changes to the law and the legal profession in Queensland, including liaising with the Queensland Law Society, other Queensland Law Society committees, members of the Queensland Law Society, government and courts.
I am also a member of the Federal Court (Queensland Registry) Commercial and Corporations Consultation Committee, which was created to assist the Federal Court to develop strategies to improve the efficiency and predictability of litigation in the Corporations and Commercial National Practice Area in the Queensland Registry.
In addition to my Bachelor of Laws, I have a Masters of Philosophy (Criminology) and a Bachelor of Arts (majoring in criminology, and in Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander studies).
I am admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia. I joined Colin Biggers & Paisley in 2021.
