Madonna is a senior associate in the employment and safety team.
Madonna has over seven years' experience in employment law and industrial relations, providing advice and conducting litigation in relation to all facets of the employment lifecycle. Madonna has a comprehensive understanding of the Australian industrial relations framework and uses her legal training and experience to help organisations navigate employment issues with empathy and develop solutions that align with organisational objectives.
Madonna has both private practice experience having worked for a large independent firm and a boutique employment law and workplace relations firm, before working as an employee relations specialist for a major mining services provider. Madonna's experience in the corporate sector brings depth to her experience and she understands the importance of partnering with clients and providing realistic and commercial advice.
Her expertise ranges from conducting litigation in the Fair Work Commission relating to unfair dismissals, general protection applications, enterprise agreement disputes and underpayments, and appearing in discrimination and human rights jurisdictions. Madonna has experience in negotiating complex enterprise agreements and responding to good faith bargaining applications and providing organisations with strategic advice in enterprise agreement bargaining. Madonna's practice extends to drafting employment contracts, advising on engagements arrangements, conducting workplace investigations and acting for clients in Work Health and Safety prosecutions.
She was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of Queensland and the High Court of Australia in 2014. In addition to holding a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), she is currently studying a Master of Business Administration majoring in Strategic Human Resources Management that she is due to complete in early 2023.
