Madeleine Copley is a senior associate in Colin Biggers & Paisley's property and development team and works in the property disputes team. Her work is largely concerned with property disputes and in particular, statutory valuation appeals, compulsory acquisition matters and mining disputes, as well as general property disputes.

Madeleine is regularly in court as her work is comprised almost exclusively of property litigation matters. She is frequently involved in matters heard by the Land Court as she acts for landowners in statutory valuation appeals against valuations of land issued for rating and land tax purposes; for landowners and local governments as constructing authorities in relation to compulsory acquisition matters and for landowners in disputes about the grant of, and compensation for, mining interests.

She also acts for clients in relation to proceedings in the Supreme and District Courts (including in contractual claims concerning interests in land, proceedings under the Property Law Act 1989 (Qld) and administrative matters under the Judicial Review Act 1991 (Qld)).

Madeleine joined Colin Biggers & Paisley as a graduate in 2017 and completed rotations in the property and development, banking and finance team and construction teams. She has practiced as a solicitor in the property and development team since February 2018 and has acted for clients in relation to property disputes and transactional matters. The advice she has given to clients about their rights and obligations in respect of lease disputes (including in relation to relief against forfeiture and the exercise of options), contested resumption matters and land access disputes.
