A member of the insurance team since 2009 and a special counsel since 2021, Lana works exclusively in insurance litigation. Her focus is in the areas of professional indemnity, public liability and directors' and officers' insurance and reinsurance. Lana manages complex litigated matters and regularly advises insurers and their insureds on coverage issues and on all aspects of professional indemnity insurance.
Lana has considerable experience in injury liability and medical negligence claims and is an accredited specialist in this area.
Lana also has a particular interest in technology, cyber security and data privacy. She has acted in a range of cyber incidents as breach coach and in the defence of third party claims arising out of cyber, privacy or data breaches and have experience with the government agencies responsible for privacy and cyber regulation.
Lana has also acted for various professionals across a broad range of industries, including legal and medical professionals, engineers, builders, architects, and company directors and officers.
Lana is actively involved in the Australian Insurance Law Association as a member of the NSW Main Committee and is the founder and co-chair of TecHub at AILA. TechHub explores and tackles the challenges and opportunities presented by digital and other technological transformations and raises awareness about the potential impact on the insurance industry by initiating and facilitating discussions and forums.
Lana was admitted to practice in the Supreme Court of NSW on 9 October 2009 and in the High Court of Australia on 7 December 2021. Lana was also admitted as a lawyer/barrister in Ukraine in 2002 and was awarded Specialist Accreditation in Personal Injury Law in November 2018.
Outside of Colin Biggers & Paisley, Lana plays chess and competes in the Bench & Bar v Solicitors annual chess tournaments. She also plays the piano, enjoys snowboarding and is fluent in Ukrainian and Russian.
